La Perra

LA PERRA is an avant-garde rock duo from México City. Consisting of bassist Elena SÁNCHEZ and drummer/percussionist PERICO, this ensemble was formed in 1994, and 3 years later (on October, 5th of 1997) LA PERRA played its first gig. This same year saw the release of their eponymous debut effort in a cassette format, but it wasn't until one year later that this same album was re-released as a CD, with a different cover. In fact, the CD release was benefited with two alternate covers - something for obsessed collectors. 2001 saw the release of their sophomore effort entitled "Fricción Visual", which certainly revealed that the band didn't intend to rest on their intellectual laurels but, au contraire, to continue to explore the possibilities of avant-garde in more eclectic and contrasting ways. As the concerts and albums went on and on, their reputation grew, and so did their live presentations, which often included visual augmentations for the enhancement of the actual music. Their third album "Romance Con La Ira" was released in 2006. As always, the cover featured the image of a female dog, which makes sense since the band's name means "The Bitch" in Spanish.
