American jingle writer, singer and songwriter. Born in NYC on the 14th of May 1937. Died in a car crash in October 1980 in Milford, PA. Won numerous CLIO awards for his jingles and also became well known for his performances in commercials for Budweiser (“This Bud’s for You”), Chevrolet (“Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet”), Doctor Pepper, and many more. Two years before his untimely death he formed a nine-piece rock band named South, which featured his good friend Lonnie Mack on vocals and guitar. Ed and Lonnie co-wrote the songs on their only release, a self-titled LP.
