Austrian Punk / Rockabilly band from Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria. The history of BRAIN DEAD starts back in 1995 in a small Austrian town called Vöcklabruck. The idea to form a Psychobilly band came from guitar player Body (Rainer Bodendorfer), who was joined by Andy on double bass and Siri on the drums. The start was rather shaky and the band split up only three months later. However, the lads did not want to bury their plan completely and finally gave it another go. Andy had seriously improved his bass technique and Body was persuaded to let a new guy called Whiskey (the name says it all!) do the "singing". Due to arguments within the band Whiskey left BRAIN DEAD in autumn 1996. He should later return to write a few excellent lyrics for BRAIN DEAD. A long search for a singer finally brought Tom on board. He was recruited from a black metal band in February 1997. Since then BRAIN DEAD's line-up has been unchanged. Band line-up and music have proved successful so far. BRAIN DEAD are receiving bookings from countries across Europe. They have appeared at numerous big concerts, i.e. as first night headliners at the 1998 Psycho Weekender in Prague. They have also played concerts with well known bands like Mad Sin and Demented are Go who BRAIN DEAD joined on one of their tours. (taken from wreckingpit.com)
