Born Micheline Maher and native of Montréal (Canada), in the parish of St-Enfant-Jésus, she is the eldest of a family of 5 children. Her passion for dance and music led her to leave early the convent where she was a resident in Laval-Des-Rapides. She was only 13 when she began to participate in amateur competitions in cabarets. She began her singing career at the age of 16 at the Rialto, where she met Roger Lacoste (who would become her husband) and Eddy Ménard, with whom she formed the trio "Les Cavaliers De L'Est". She is totally captivated by American music and performs with passion the songs of Buck Owens, Tony Bennett and Patsy Cline. She also likes the repertoires of Ginette Reno and Chantal Pary. During the entire period she performed with "Les Cavaliers De L'Est" in the Montreal area, she recorded 8 albums and as many singles. She left "Les Cavaliers De L'Est" to form the band "Miche et ses musiciens". In 1986, the group won the trophy for best country dance orchestra awarded at the Gala Cabaret. However, she began a solo career and gave her first live show on July 31, 1987 at the Vieux Ranch. In 1989, she received the trophy for best country singer of the year, awarded by Dani Daraiche. She will own the Vieux Ranch on St-Laurent Street in Montreal until August 1991, when she learns that she has throat cancer. She passed away at the age of 51, leaving us in the memory of a jovial, generous, and lively woman.
