American radio host/DJ, drummer and retired music industry executive (b. 27 September 1960). Evan Davies lives and works in New Jersey, hosting a weekly Evan "Funk" Davies Show on WFMU since July 2004. As a musician, he is best known for playing live drums for The Cosmopolitans in the early 1980s. Davies studied at New York University and gained his first radio experience at WNYU 89.1 FM college station. He worked at Columbia House as an associate director of "new product development" between 2001 and 2005. Evan played a DJ set with music writer Ira Robbins at a tribute show for Greg Shaw (1949—2004), founder of BOMP! label, in January 2005. From September 2006 to June 2015, Evan "Funk" Davies worked at Viacom, responsible for developing high-level financial models for VH1 and MTV Music Television and leaving the company as Director of Business Operations. Davies was a Senior Product Manager at Sirius XM Radio Inc. (2015–17) and ASCAP (2017–2021), where he was responsible for "Songview," a Musical Works Data Platform developed in collaboration with BMI to provide ascap.com/songview web search for the publishers' extensive joint catalog.
