American reed player and composer (b. May 7, 1895 Stoughton, Wisconsin – d. February 19, 1966 Chicago, Illinois) Clayton "Babe" Naset played tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, and a double-reed instrument called rothphone. In the 1920s, he was a featured player with Dan Russo's and Ted Fiorito's Oriole Terrace Orchestra in Detroit. He also composed two million-selling songs, "Dreamy Melody" and "Susie", the latter of which was memorably recorded by Bix Beiderbecke's Wolverines.
