Back in 1983 Marc Hartman and Imro van Hetten heard a record in the local shop that changed everything. In the early days of Italo disco a lot of productions were instrumental , and some of them became real classics and were for a lot of producers and dj’s the source of inspiration. Tracks like Giorgio Moroder’s Chase, Mito with Droid, Koto with their first record named Chinese Revenge. But one day Marc Hartman and Imro van Hetten were in the local record store to check out the new arrived 12 inches from overseas, mostly from the USA, Canada and Italy. Then the guy in the shop played a record that changed everything for good. Kano with Ikeya Seki, not just another instrumental synthesizer four on the floor production. It was almost classical music.. a beautiful arrangement and the production was perfect. Both guys were talking and mostly daydreaming about making a record themselves. After hearing Ikeya Seki they agreed that the record must be in the same style as this beautiful Kano song. Imro studied classical piano for years and wrote some melody lines…. We had no keyboard , so it was all in our head. One year later they recorded their first record and named the project Android and the song was called Skydancer. Imro made the decision to focus 100% on his sport carrere… and left the project.. Marc was on his own and produced Android’s follow up named Aliens. The title was inspired by the success Horror Science Fiction Movie Aliens. Unfortunately the style of Italo Disco was not longer popular in the clubs and soon enough House music dominated the clubs. But today Italo Disco is back… and so is Android… with a new single called Spacex and a new album called Spaceman’s Return Android is ready for some new adventure
