American actress and big band vocalist, born circa 1923. Mitchell started singing at the age of 10, and had her own radio show at the age 12 on WICC in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which lasted for two years. In 1939, she appeared on WJZ with Adrian Rollini as "Little Miss Chicklet", singing and doing commercials. She graduated from Norwalk high school in 1941, after which she joined Rollini briefly before signing up with the orchestra of Paul Whiteman (1941–1942). After Whiteman she sang with Stan Kenton (1942–1944), and Kay Kyser, and sang commercials on the Bob Hope show. She worked in Europe for four years under the name Laura Mitchell; and while in Paris, she got a role in "Paris Precinct" (1955). In the 1960s and 1970s she focused on acting, appearing under her real name Ann Mitchell. She appeared in stage productions, and on television shows such as "Perry Mason," Where the Heart Is," and "As the World Turns". She married saxophonist and singer Red Dorris in 1945.
