Theodor Michaelis

German conductor and composer (born March 15, 1831 in Ballenstädt, Herzogtum Anhalt [now Ballenstedt, Saxony-Anhalt] – died November 17, 1887 in Hamburg) Best-known for "Die Türkische Scharwache" (op. 83, The Turkish Patrol) and "Die Schmiede im Walde" (op. 126, The Forge In The Forest). Michaelis died at the age of 56 of laryngeal tuberculosis.
