Italian mod band from Reggio Emilia, 1983/85. Paolo Lusenti - Bass, Vocals Roberto Ferrari - Vocals Paolo Ovi - Drums Andrea Gambarelli - Guitar Gabriele Longoni - Guitar, Vocals Cristiano Piccinini - Bass The Coys were formed in early 1983 by bassist Paolo Lusenti and original singer Roberto Ferrari who shared a common interest in 60s mods subculture. Soon after arrived guitarist Andrea Gambarelli and Paolo Ovi on drums. In the beginning playing covers but very soon started to play own songs written primarily by bassist Paolo Lusenti and included in their demotape "Strike" released in 1983. After few local gigs the band soon became very popular in the Italian mod scene as one of the wildest acts by playing at major Italian mod events. At the end of summer 1984 founder member Paolo Lusenti left the groug, the rest of the band decided to add a second guitarist to get a harder sound. Gabriele Longoni (guitar) joined the band in october 1984 and the Coys Mk II lineup was completed in early 2005 by new bassist Cristiano Piccinini. The debut of the new Coys was held at the Easter Mod Weekender in April 1985 with a hard and violent act interrupted by a fight in the audience, as happened again in some following gigs. During this period the band recorded three songs for a new demotape which remained incomplete and was never finished. The band lasted until early 1986 when internal problems decreed the end. In 1996 a mixed line-up including original founder member Paolo Lusenti reunited for a one-off gig and since then the Coys are still playing live (as a quartet) at Mods events and allnighters.
