Aryeh Levanon

Israeli composer, conductor, arranger and violinist born in Romania in 1932. He immigrated to Israel in 1951 and studied composing and conducting at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music. He served as the Music Director for The Central Command Troupe until his discharge from the IDF in 1958. In the 1960s he wrote music for and served as Music Director for musicals and films. From 1972-82, he was Conductor in Residence for the Israel Opera. He won the ACUM Prize in 2014 for his contributions to the development of Israeli music. He was on the Board of Directors at ACUM. Died October 31, 2023.
