Ellen Heijkorn

Swedish composer. Born May 19, 1869 in Överjärna, Sweden — died June 12, 1950 in Stockholm, Sweden. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music where she graduated as an organist in 1891 and as a music teacher in 1894. After that she worked as a teacher of song and music at first Katarina folkskola, later at Adolf Fredriks folkskola which then became Gustav Vasa folkskola. She continued at the same school for the rest of her working life. She retired in 1939 and died in 1950 in Stockholm. She never married and lived for a long time with her mother and her unmarried siblings. In addition to her profession, she also composed songs with piano accompaniment and songs, including the melody to "Mor, lilla mor, vem är väl som du" and "Nu så kommer julen".
