Felix Kok

Felix Kok (born 1 August 1924, Brakpan, South Africa - died 11 August 2010) was a South African-born British violinist and orchestra leader. He graduated from Royal Academy of Music. After graduating, he joined the Blech Quartet. In 1947, with his brother the cellist Alexander Kok, and pianist Daphne Ibbott, he formed the Beaufort Trio. He then joined the Philharmonia Orchestra. From 1959 he was leader of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. He was the leader of the City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from 1965 until his retirement in 1988. Father of conductor Nicholas Kok.
