Astrometria

Astrometria is a kind of one man band. My real name is Matt Chilton and I play primarily with the Vultures Quartet. I also play with Renderplant. In the main I use a laptop to create audio / music although I also play guitar, bass and keyboard. I prefer to use software that I can use to build custom instruments, for example puredata (aka Pd). I use live sampling a lot: I record what other musicians are playing and manipulate the samples or manipulate their sound in real time. I also use the webcam on my laptop to create sound (using OpenCV for example). More recently I have started to build "instruments" or objects to create sound that I can manipulate in the same way as I do with other people's sound. I have also begun to experiment with movement artists - their movement can be tracked and processed visually or via contact mics to create sound.
