Faye Medeson

With a dynamic soulful voice and a story that fuels the depth of her lyrics, Faye is one of the most promising new singer/songwriters coming out of Sweden. Born in Stockholm, she was raised by a single mother ran her own business. This experience quickly taught Faye the value of dedication and hard work, and the gratification that comes with building something of your own. Joining the church choir at the age of 3 and playing the piano at 7, music became her second nature and source of joy and relief. With Tina Turner as a "household God", closely followed by "power" women like Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Chaka Kahn and Diana Ross, Faye started studying these women’s role models as soon as she was old enough to go to the record store on her own. Irma Thomas, Bettye Lavette, Mavis Staples and Etta James became some of her favorites, alongside newer acts like Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill and Kelly Price. By the age of 12 she got introduced to hip hop and started writing her own songs. Lyricists like Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Common inspired her writing. Merging the two worlds, the vocal techniques and undeniably heartfelt expression of soul with the genuine rawness and storytelling of rap, Faye began creating her own sound early on, adding music production to her skill set by the age of 16. ”I didn't have much confidence when I was young, so sharing the music I created with others was hard for me. Working with other people, like producers, requires sharing your art. That, in combination with my unquenchable thirst for creating, learning new things and pushing my limits, led me to start producing my own songs. It also presented me with an opportunity to experiment freely with different sounds without anybody pointing me in any specific direction.” she says. Coming to America and making it in Hollywood was always the dream. To turn her journey in life into music and to make it mean something, inspiring others to rise above their circumstances and embrace their true selves has always been the vision. Today she is working on her debut album with help from her publishing company BMG and manager Randy Jackson.
