Swedish musician (pianist) and composer, also Jean Kasimir, Jean Edvin Nilson and J.E.K. Nilsson, born April 27, 1895 in Adolf Fredrik's parish in Stockholm, died January 11, 1958 in Farsta parish in Stockholm. He was trained as an engineer, but was active as a revue artist, musician and orchestra leader. He had his own orchestra called Jean Kasimirs orkester. He was a silent film pianist in Kalmar until sound films came along and he continued with the same job in Västervik. When the sound film was introduced there as well, he became unemployed and moved to Stockholm. In the 1950s he came to Gästis in Uppsala where he worked as a bandmaster and then until his death at Ulriksdal's inn. He is the author of a number of songs, including Joddlarflickan, with which his daughter Alice Babs made her record debut in 1939. The song has since reappeared on several new releases.
