Norman Stiles, born December 4, 1942, was a long-time writer and lyricist for the long-running U.S. educational children's television show Sesame Street. His most well-known creation is likely Muppet character Count von Count. He also wrote episodes on sensitive subjects such as death (after the passing of the actor who played shopkeeper Mr. Hooper), racism and divorce (unaired). Besides his twenty plus years with Sesame Street, Stiles' resume included writing for Merv Griffin, The Muppet Show pilot, Emmy-winning kid's show Between the Lions, America 2-Night (starring Martin Mull and Fred Willard) and Mel Brooks' 1975 sitcom "When Things Were Rotten".
