Ara Simonian

Ara’s musical career started in the mid 80s when he joined his brother Reneh in DJing local parties in Los Angeles. In 1994 Ara met then unknown DJ and producer Peter Zirians (aka Peter Black), they began their musical journey as Sweet Drop. Acid People, their first release under New York label Strictly Rhythm in 1995 opened the door to numerous international licensing of the song. Buoyed by its success, Sweet Drop released four more singles with Groovilicious Records, a subsidiary of Strictly Rhythm. Their most successful single Human Nature came out in 1996. To date,it has sold over 200.000 copies and has been licensed over 40 times worldwide. In 2001, Ara was asked by Warner Bros. to do a remix of Depeche Mode’s I Feel Loved and a follow up remix for New Order’s Crystal. Ara then went on to remix Pink Floyd’s A New Machine and the disco classic Walk the Night by the Skatt Brothers. 2010 brought many exciting projects for both Ara and Sweet Drop. Ara Released his first full length album, “In Trembling Dance” on Pylon Records, and a follow up album titled Properly Sly in 2015 now available for download on iTunes, along with the Sweet Drop anthology.
