Matthew Beckett grew up near Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where his father, Barry Beckett, was one of the “Swampers”; a group of musicians immortalized by Lynyrd Skynyrd in the song “Sweet Home Alabama.” He has been active in the music industry since 1985, when he moved to Nashville, and has been practicing law since 2007. Beckett earned a BBA with a Concentration in Music Business degree at Belmont College. Early in his career, he was a production assistant on albums by Hank Williams, Jr., Lee Roy Parnell, Delbert McClinton, and Asleep at the Wheel. He worked in music publishing in the 1990’s, owning a publishing company that earned multiple ASCAP and BMI awards. After selling the company’s catalog, he worked as a recording engineer on several Grammy nominated albums including artists Aaron Neville, The Oak Ridge Boys, and the Gaither Vocal Band. Beckett has represented clients in all facets of the entertainment industry, such as radio personalities, recording artist, songwriters, music publishers, record companies, record producers, managers, television personalities, concert promoters, and record company executives.
