A composer, a songwriter and a fine musician, Antonis Apergis was born in Nikaia, Athens in 1963. Before going to school he started playing the guitar. At the age of 8 he took classical guitar lessons with Alekos Bouras at the National Conservatory. At 11 he started playing the recorder, at 20 he started playing the oud and the double-bass and at 29 he took on playing the kanonaki (zither) and the ney (folk flute). Later on he started playing fretless guitar. Aside from being a performer he is also a renown composer and arranger. At the age of 17 he arranged pro-classic music and composed music for puppet theater, and at 24 he arranged music for a big band. He made his entrance in discography with the album "Oud" (FM records) which is a solo oud project. Then a fruitful cooperation started with Kostas Pavlidis as Apergis wrote music and lyrics in the album "Vgale ftera kai peta" (Forth wings and fly) (FM records). The two artists worked together on Pavlidis' next album "Pia gi kai pia patrida" (Which land, which country) (FM records) many of the songs there were written (music and lyrics) by Antonis Apergis. He has worked as a musician and arranger with some of Greece’s most important singers and musicians. He has also collaborated with Arab musicians, with the Turkmen group Ashkabad and with the salsa group Tierra Negra. He has recorded 5 albums with his compositions and 2 solo albums as an oud player. He has taught electric guitar at the Odeio Kentriko, and folk music at the Music High School of Pallini and at the University of Arta. He performs with his band in Greece and abroad.
