Bob Carlos Clarke

Irish graphic designer and photographer (born 24 June 1950, County Cork, Ireland; died 25 March 2006, at age 55, near Barnes in London, England). Known for photographing erotic images of women as well as documentary, portrait, and commercial photography. Was sent to an all-male boarding school in England in 1964; attended secondary education at Wellington College. Began professional career in Dublin as a trainee journalist, relocated to Belfast in 1969, came to England in 1970 to study art and design at Worthing College of Art in West Sussex, where he developed an interest in photography and met model Sue Frame, and they eventually married in 1975. Prior to this, had moved to Brixton, and he enrolled in the London College of Printing, received an MA from the Royal College of Art in photography in 1975. Met model and fashion designer Lindsey Rudland in 1976, with whom he would eventually have an affair, before his first marriage dissolved. Lindsey ran their large studio in The Village in Battersea, London in 1996. And they would eventually marry (in 1997), and have one child, photographer Scarlett Carlos Clarke.
