Torsten Rantzén

Swedish music director and composer, born 6 October 1889 in Undenäs parish, Skaraborg county, died 11 March 1955. He graduated as an organist at the Conservatory of Music in Stockholm in 1909, as a music teacher in 1911 and as a church singer in 1912. He was an organist and music teacher in Åhus 1912–22, became an organist in Alingsås in 1922 and was a music teacher there from 1923. for the Swedish Singers' Association's representative choir on a concert tour in the USA in 1938, second conductor in the Swedish Singers' Association, first conductor in Västergötland's Singers' Association, member of the central board of the National Association of Music Teachers, chairman of the association's western circle and Alingsås art association. He published 15 booklets of romances and songs, compositions for men's choir and mixed choir, composed cantatas, songs and melodrama with orchestra. He was elected an associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 1949.
