Ted Gioia

Ted Gioia (born 21 October 1957) is an American jazz critic and music historian. Ted Gioia was born in Los Angelers in 1957. He was founder of Stanford's jazz studies program and has taught jazz history and performance there. Gioia has made 2 recordings as a jazz pianist, and has produced a series of recordings featuring the work of younger West Coast musicians. His first book 'The Imperfect Art' was a winner of The ASCAP Deem Taylor Award.
