German illustrator, transgender artist and book author. Born September 29, 1942 in Remagen, Germany; died May 9, 2017 in Waldorf, Germany From 1959 until 1962 she studied graphical arts in Cologne. She worked in advertising agencies, became art director. Her illustrations made it into the famous German magazines as Bunte, Spiegel, Playboy and the magazine of the German journals FAZ and Die Zeit. As a painter, she got more and more exhibitions of her works in the 1990s and 2000s, a broad publicity of her work was her book "Die transzendente Frau", where she described the life and thoughts of transgender people. Born as the man Jean Lessenich, she made a gender transformation in the early 1970's in Casablanca and also called herself Jeanne Lessenich, later. She was in a lesbian relationship with her girlfriend from Japan. In order to be able to marry her, she switched back to the male gender in the 1980's. After her wife's death, she continued her life as a lesbian woman.
