John (Pitsmoor-born) & Anne (Sheffield-born) Ryder were an English husband-wife singing duo from the late 1960's. Their two singles that charted were "I Still Believe in Tomorrow", which hit #70 on the U.S. Charts (#17 Adult Contemporary as well as #1 in Canada) in October of 1969 and "A Sign for Love" which notched in at #34 Adult Contemporary in January of 1970. The couple began a family after their first album but began to tour locally for many years after. They celebrated their 50th annversary together before John died in 2021 at the age of 82. John's birth last name was Holland, and he found success on the stage and on the charts in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the lead singer of The Whirlwinds, a popular local band that also included guitarists Dave Hawley – the father of songwriter Richard Hawley – and Frank White. He was also the leader of the band Johnny and the Night Riders.
