Michael Rey

Graphic designer and fine artist, Los Angeles, California. Born in Jalisco, Mexico, in 1947 (as Miguel Gamboa). Raised in San Antonio, Texas (as Mike Sanchez). Served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1969, stationed at the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado (as Miguel Gamboa Sanchez). Earned a BFA with honors from Art Center College of Design in 1973. Creative director for Container Corporation of America in Mexico City, in 1973. Relocated to New York in 1974 and ran the Picture Newspaper. Relocated to Los Angeles in 1982, and received an MFA from Art Center College of Design (as Michael G. Rey). From 1983 to 1987, was design director of California Magazine. Became a freelance graphic designer and established his design firm Rey International circa 1985/1987. In 2000, partnered with Greg Lindy, expanded and renamed the firm to Intersection Studios, where he was founding principal and creative director. Currently working as a fine artist.
