Roy Horton

American Upright Bass and Bass Fiddler and brother of songwriter/bandleader George Vaughn Horton. Born November 05, 1914 Broad Top City, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1911 Died September 23, 2003 (age 88) Manchester, Connecticut. Roy's biggest contributions came in the world of music publishing. In the 1940s Roy began his long association with Peer Southern Music, where he worked for more than forty years, promoting the classic repertoires of such artists as Jimmie Rodgers (though he'd died in 1933), the Carter Family, Floyd Tillman, Ted Daffan, Jimmie Davis, and Bill Monroe. Roy served the Country Music Association (CMA) and Country Music Foundation (CMF) since their inceptions. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982.
