Thedfh

was born in 1976 in Bonn/NRW. When he was merely 15 years old, “thedfh”, whose real name is Frank Holzem, discovered his passion for electronic music. It didn’t take him long to acquire his first equipment – he acquired some vinyl and then, a short while later, his first set! He went “On Tour” at countless private events held by his circle of friends and acquaintances. A small fan community started to form that extended itself well beyond his circle of friends and acquaintances. This group became the foundation for forming "Unity" Underground Techno Friends during the summer of 1994. As part of “Unity”, many different underground club parties, with Frank Holzem as the regular DJ, took place several times a week across NRW. And it was as part of "Unity" that he made "thedfh" his name as an artist. At this time it was common for DJ’s to work under an assumed artist’s name. This went against Frank Holzem’s grain because it was supposed to be about his music, not about his name. He was known as Frank Holzem except when someone asked for the name “thedfh”. "Thedfh" has an English pronunciation and simply means: The DJ Frank Holzem. (The D.F.H.) In mid-1995, Frank Holzem often set up in the “Housecafe” in Bonn. During the same year he also appeared once behind the decks of Magma, a larger discotheque. Between then and now, he has played at an untold number of bookings and at the most diverse events. Among other things, he has appeared at the “Alter Wartesaal Köln”, Phantasialand Brühl, Popcom Köln, Tunnel Rave, Nature One, Messe Köln, Energize Reworked 1&2, Take Off 1-3, and many other locations. To this day, he has remained true to his track. When he stands behind the deck, Frank Holzem delivers a set that is harmonized between Techno Style and Hardtechno. Frank Holzem’s set represents a quick and expressive sound that often brings former classics back to life. He prefers to appear at small to medium-sized club events because proximity to the “party folk” is very important to him! In addition to working as a DJ, Frank Holzem began to create his own productions in 2000. Here he worked mainly only as a producer for various musicians – across, and sometimes even beyond, the spectrum of electronic music. While doing this, he completed his studies as an audio engineer. Now finally, since 2007, he has been able to provide various productions under his name. Though he consciously has not made some of his productions available in stores, preferring them to be legally transferred for free from one person to the next. Successful in the underground since 1991, his future is very promising … he remains faithful to his track. We can look forward to many future projects – more creative than ever before! After completing his studio year in 2009, you will find him often playing behind the decks across Germany and Europe!
