Vecihi Akın

Trumpet player, trumpet teacher, band leader and arranger from Turkey Born 1975, he started playing trumpet in 1985 under the training of Canadian trumpet player and conductor Richard Francis. In 2003, he graduated from the Istanbul University State Conservatory, majoring in trumpet. He received further training from important trumpet instructors and masters such as Gökmen Noyan, Altuğ Öztunç, Erden Bilgen, Max Sommerhalder, Şenova Ülker, Claudio Roditi, Rex Richardson. Since 1994, he has worked as a professional musician in numerous artists and television programme orchestras. He took part in various symphonic orchestras such as Istanbul State Opera Orchestra, Bursa Symphony Orchestra, Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Symphonic Project. Between 1998 and 2008, he taught music history and culture, instrument knowledge and performance at Müjdat Gezen Conservatory. Between 1998 and 2010, he worked actively with the band Athena (4) both on album and concert basis. Between 2009-2013, he took part in TRT Light Music and Jazz Orchestra. Between 2020 - 2023, he worked as a lecturer in Kocaeli University Faculty of Fine Arts "Trumpet" and "Chamber Music" branches. Akın continues to work both on stage and in the studio with the band "Sixpack" of which he is a member.
