Scottish singer from Glasgow (born 13 August 1921 - died 13 March 2022, aged 100) who was discovered as a 13-year old schoolgirl by dance band leader Roy Fox in a talent contest. She sang with Fox's band from the age of 14, making a number of recordings with him. Often billed as Little Mary Lee, owing to her young age, she also sang with the bands of Bert Ambrose, [a496751], Jack Jackson and Harry Roy. Lee’s first marriage was to variety performer Ron Jackley, brother of comedian Nat, in 1942. The couple had a daughter, Diana, in 1946. Mary then married Scottish comedian [a5811406] in 1952, who she performed with on stage and television. He died in 2001, predeceasing her and their son, Jim. Mary’s son Jim (born 1954) died aged 60 in 2014.
