Ricardo Vilca

Born in Humahuaca on November 5, 1953, he received a Unesco award in 1983 for his cultural contribution to the Quebrada, he was a teacher in rural schools for more than 16 years and also he was a professor of the Production Workshop at the Escuela Superior de Música de la Provincia De Jujuy and became one of the great animators of the cultural and artistic rescue of his land. Although he was always well known in his town, in the early 2000's his popularity has spread to the rest of Argentina, especially after, he recorded "Guanuqueando" together with the Argentine rock group Divididos, and León Gieco put lyrics to one of his songs ("Plegaria de Sikus y Campanas").
