U.S. radio personality, known as a Pop and Jazz disc jockey (1960's to 2020's). Often credited with liner notes. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, the LA Times and Gary Owens gave him the title "Prince of Darkness" due to late night broadcasting early in career. Quincy Jones wrote "Nasty Magnus" about him, a tune which Count Basie originally recorded. in Los Angeles, Johnny worked at KGFJ and KMPC and in Billboard's 1966, 1967 and 1968 Radio Response Ratings, he was voted #1 Pop LP's Disc Jockey. He also scored in the Jazz category as the second most influential. Also worked at KDWN (Las Vegas), KBRT (Contemporary Christian music), and as West Coast announcer for ABC/TV, Music of Your Life Radio Network and KKJZ.
