Swedish folk music singer and singing teacher, born August 29, 1957. Susanne Rosenberg has been a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music since 1992 and now a senior lecturer and head of the Department of Folk Music there. She has studied musicology at Stockholm University and has a degree in music and singing from the Royal Academy of Music. She was a teacher at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki between 1987 and 1991. Rosenberg is one of Sweden's most established folk musicians. She has great breadth in her vocal expression, from older folk music techniques such as gossip, to baroque, jazz and modern art music. Susanne Rosenberg has been a pioneer when it comes to rediscovering older folk songs and using them in new artistic contexts. She has collaborated with composer Karin Rehnqvist and directors such as Peter Oskarson and Leif Stinnerbom. She started the folk music groups Rosenbergs Sjua and Rotvälta and has toured with them in Europe, the USA and Asia. She has released a number of gramophone records since the early 1980s both with groups and as a soloist. In 2011, she was awarded the "Trainer of the Year" award at the World and Folk Music Gala in Gothenburg. Rosenberg was appointed a member of the Royal Academy of Music in 2015.
