Swedish composer, born 8 December 1952 in Stockholm. He received his education as a composer at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm under professor Ingvar Lidholm and at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Århus where his teacher was Per Nørgård. He graduated in composition in 1977. He was a professor of composition in 1988-2001 at the Academy of Music in Malmö, Lund University. He has sat in the Danish Statens Kunstfond, Tonekunstudvaltage for Klassisk Musik, 2010-2013. In 2011, he became a doctor of arts at Lund University on a dissertation in musical drama: Opera's double sequence. Hans Gefors has been a member of the Royal Academy of Music since 1995 and a member of Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare since 1978. He lives in Östermalm in Stockholm.
