Leo Berlin

Finnish-Swedish violinist, born December 7, 1927 in Finland, died April 13, 2019. He was first concertmaster of the Radio Orchestra 1958–61 and the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra 1961–90, as well as violin teacher at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm 1970–93. Leo Berlin made himself known in the middle of the 20th century as one of Sweden's foremost soloists on his instrument. Several new Swedish violin concertos have been premiered by him, including works by Lars-Erik Larsson, Ingvar Lidholm, Gunnar Bucht, Claude Loyola Allgén and Lille Bror Söderlundh. As a chamber musician, he was active with the Stockholm trio for 15 years and he has also collaborated with the pianist Greta Erikson.
