KEL SPENCER, THE WARRIOR POET The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the country’s most popular bridges. Call it irony that Kel Spencer, a Brooklyn Native, just might be a Brooklyn Bridge personified. Kel’s Grammy Nominated songwriting catalog includes works with Rodney (Darkchild) Jerkins, Wyclef Jean, Teddy Riley and many more, including co-writing songs like the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD WINNING “Switch,” alongside Will Smith. Most recently penning the 2020 ESPN Espy Awards’ Kobe Bryant tribute, performed by Snoop Dogg, Kel’s pen and creativity have been the bridge between millions of album sales, television, film, and corporate tie-ins with brands for over 20 years from Burger King & NFL Teams to lyrics for Pepsi commercials and more. Creating synergy between a hair care company, his friendship with MC Lyte and his relationship with his online following (especially women) is the bridge that led to Playtime Worldwide. Playtime is not only the home of the Largest Game Night on the East Coast, but it also houses a signature style of speed dating called Topic Talk, which (in just 5 years) has been the bridge for over 11 marriages, dozens of relationships (romantic, platonic and/or business) and huge community service initiatives via its PT Village branch. PT Village’s annual engagements include April Showers- Baby shower for less fortunate expectant moms, PT Turkey Day- Over 800 families have been served on Thanksgiving mornings, The Connect 4 Challenge- Students challenge Playtimers in Connect 4 in exchange for school supplies, Socktober- 15,000+ pairs of socks donated to NYC’s homeless, in addition to Game Nights specifically for Foster Care children in partnership with Foster Care Unplugged. Playtime’s success & buzz alongside Kel’s very public and celebrated marriage gives him credibility as (Co)Author of the buzz-worthy book Single Man, Married Man and his culture writings for brands like BET/Centric online (Now BET Her). Kel’s writing credits & accomplishments make it not so foreign to participate in public appearances whether on panels or at schools which is how his Pens of Power youth program was birthed. The program is rooted in writing, mentorship, and cultural awareness and has served just under 100 schools in over 6 states and 10 cities. Subsequently, adjunct professorship on the subjects of Hip Hop linguistics, Sociology, and Entrepreneurship have been discussed at two Universities in New York as well as his alma mater, The Earl G. Graves School of Business at Morgan State University. As a PSAL New York All City quarterback, at Brooklyn’s Canarsie High School, Lennie Bennett aka Kel Spencer, has always had the passion for leadership and winning. Also named a BET Music Matters artist, and with a solid acting resumé, Kel is humbly re-inventing his career in entertainment with a soon coming Amazon Prime film and soundtrack, while continuing to thrive in entrepreneurship and community works. “These are all colors within my Keleidoscope.
