Karl-Erik Svedlund, born November 6, 1906 Uppsala, died July 13, 1974 in Stockholm, was a Swedish music director, parish musician and composer. Svedlund was educated at Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm. For several decades, Svedlund was organist and music director in Filadelfiakyrkan in Stockholm. During his time as a musical leader there, he built a rich music life with several choirs and a symphony orchestra. Karl-Erik Svedlund also introduced a new accompaniment in collaboration with church employee Solist Church Singer Einar Ekberg, where the accompaniment was improvised based on the text of the various verses. For many years he had been the musical leader of the Pentecostal Minister Choir, and together with Göte Strandsjö and Einar Ekberg, they took the initiative for annual collections for the choir. Svedlund was also involved in the record release of the movement's gramophone company Hemmets Härold. Karl-Erik Svedlund's compositional activities included both compositions of simple spiritual songs with texts by, among others, Anders Frostenson, chores and symphonic works. Some of his symphonic works are recorded with members from the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Court Chapel.
