Turma da Mônica is a series of Brazilian comics created by cartoonist and entrepreneur Mauricio de Sousa. It originated in 1959 from newspaper strips, in which the main characters were Bidu and Franjinha. From the 1960s onwards, the series began to gain its current identity with the creation of Mônica and Cebolinha, between 1960 and 1963, who became the protagonists.
