Sherman Sneed

American jazz singer, manager and producer. Born : November 18, 1920 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Died : April 19. 2001 in Brooklyn, New York. Sherman was a member of "The Wings Over Jordan Choral Ensemble" and "The Karamu Quartette". He was a backup singer and management assistant for Harry Belafonte for 15 years. He began working for singer Lena Horne in 1972 as her assistant and became her personal manager and producer, taking over as manager over long-time manager Ralph Harris (3) in 1985. Sneed conceived and co-produced Horne’s long-running one-woman Broadway show, “Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music.” He was nominated for an Emmy for the show in 1985. Sneed retired in January of 1997, at the age of 76.
