With influences ranging from Dead Can Dance, Tool and Jane's Addiction to Radiohead, Deftones and Massive Attack, the music of O.H.M. blends various styles of ethnic backgrounds. A mix of world music, driving guitars, layered drums and chanting vocals gives O.H.M. a unique, eclectic sound unlike any other. The group of artists now known as O.H.M. was formed by Atsushi Miyamoto, David Alva and Jagger-Bleu Gonzales. Originally know as Chinga Monkey, they booked there 1st show at a coffee shop in Alhambra Ca (late 1996). After only 6 months of playing the LA circuit with local L.A. artists System of a Down, Static-X, Papa Roach, Linkin Park (then "Xero"), Puya, Sevendust, Spineshank, Machine Head, HedPE, Snot etc. Chinga Monkey had started a buzz and a steady following that would rapidly accumulate over the following year. In mid 1998, Chinga Monkey under went some artistic differences which lead to the departure of their singer. A year long search began for the perfect addition. After auditioning vocalists form all over the nation, Chris-Paul Basso and Mahina Yuki Terauchi completed the gap that needed to be filled in order to create O.H.M. Before the millennium, O.H.M. recorded a 3 song demo, featuring: "Mold" "Become the King" and "Life Like". This recording helped them begin booking shows in the L.A. area and quickly pick up where Chinga Monkey had left off. The band started a relentless promotion schedule, handing out some 5,000 tapes on the streets and at shows. In August of 2000 O.H.M. went into the studio to begin their 1st EP, "TUBODA": a self produced, recorded, and packaged 6 song recording. The recording process was a stepping stone in pulling the band even closer together; the words "we are one" became a theme, which eventually lead to the title of the EP "TUBODA," (Spanish trans.. for "your marriage"). After huge break from shows and promoting, the band completed the project. TUBODA was released at a live CD release party at the Troubadour April 9th 2001 (the same day as the official launch of www.ohmhome.com) The CD was received with a warm welcome amongst fans as O.H.M and TUBODA packed the house that night. Since then, their success has continued to soar and will do so in the future, as great things are expected from the artists known as O.H.M.
