Colin Irwin

UK based music journalist, editor, broadcaster and folk enthusiast, born May 22, 1946 and died November 3, 2022 in Surbiton, Surrey, England. Irwin joined Melody Maker in the mid-1970s. He was to spend over 12 years there, graduating to become Features Editor and Assistant Editor. He left to become editor of weekly pop magazine Number One, later going to work at the BBC. He was a freelance writer, and has contributed to fROOTS, Mojo, The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Observer Music Monthly. He has also authored a number of music and guide books.
