Band associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal formed 1979 in Bristol, England by John Hall, Chris D'Avoigne and Jack Carver with Andy Skuse joining shortly after. Active live from 1980, they also recorded several demo tracks around this time. A three-piece when D'Avoigne left, more demos and a management deal followed in 1981 with Chris Logan replacing Carver on drums. In 1982 they secured a contract with Heavy Metal Records - recording the "Firedance" album. A second album was planned when Logan quit the band. In 1983, with replacements 'Charlie' and then Phil Williams, further recording took place. However, Heavy Metal Records didn't pick up the album and Shiva split in Autumn 1983. Hall, Skuse and a drummer from Wisconsin called 'Ted' played The Troubadour Club in Los Angeles on 23 September 1986 as a one-off ending for Shiva. In 2004 the second album recordings and older demos were digitised, re-mastered and released as “Continuance” on Majestic Records; containing the 7 tracks recorded in 1983 plus 5 older demos.
