"Karolina" was a Soviet/Russian pop-group, active between 1989 and 1994. Reorganized into a solo project in 1994, final liquidation in 2000. The group Karolina was founded in 1989 by Stepan Razin and Tatyana Razina (Korneva). Similar to other Soviet groups of that era, Razina performed on stage as soloist of the group, without acutially singing with her own voice. In spring of 1990, the debut album "Discobar" was recorded together with the composer and lyricist Sergey Tumanov and the arranger Vladimir Volenko and later circulated on reel-to-reel tapes and cassettes. The vocals were recorded by Lyuba Orlova, who refused to perform public on stage and later also rejected offers of recording a second album for Karolina. In 1991, together with the singer Svetlana Litvinenko, who also never officially publicly performed as a part of Karolina, the second album was recorded. The group disbanded in 1994 when Razina decided to start a solo career. Still under the pseudonym Karolina, Razina recorded her first solo album in 1994. From there on, her real, deeper voice was used for the recordings. She also changed her style from disco to the modern sound of the mid 1990s. Four albums were released until she decided to end the "project" and to rename herself into Tanya Tishinskaya in 2000.
