Prominent roles have included: 1939-46 Director and Conductor of the Philadelphia Opera Company 1946-49 Conductor and accompanist to Lauritz Melchior 1949-69 Musical Director and Conductor of the Austin Symphony Orchestra 1958-65 Permanent Guest Conductor of the Houston Symphony Orchestra 1958-65 Musical Director and Conductor of the Houston Summer Symphony series 1965-71 Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra 1970-72 Chief Conductor of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra From 1972 he was freelance including conducting the London Symphony Orchestra, Guest Conductor with the Halle Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Rachlin is buried in London UK.
