German-American composer, musician and teacher in America in the first two decades of the twentieth century. Born in Berlin, Germany May 6, 1868 Died November 15, 1937. He was educated at the Berlin Conservatory of Music and arrived in America in 1894, settling in Chicago, where he worked as a musician or music teacher. He had a number of successes in the U.S. between 1905 and 1929, including "There's a Quaker Down in Quaker Town" recorded by Henry Burr & Albert Campbell in 1916 (co-written by David Berg (5)).
