American hythm & blues singer and actress. Best remembered for accompanying band leaders Gene Krupa and Red Saunders. Born: 22 September 1929 in New York, New York, USA Died: 15 January 1987 in Clearwater, Florida, USA She sang on the radio beginnig at the age of five on into her teens, when she began working with various society dance orchestras around New York. She joined Gene Krupa's band next. It was readily apparent how her early start in singing and how well she controlled her voice as Billboard Oct 4, 1947 said "Youngster showed a load of personality and a stage presence remarkable in one so young." She recorded “Hambone” with Red Saunders and his Orchestra and cut four sides with the Four Lads in 1952. She performed the title song for the 1956 film "A Kiss Before Dying" and in 1960, and sang two songs in MGM's remake of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", also 1960. Her husband Don Seat was her manager.
