Märta Ramsten

Swedish musicologist and folk music researcher, born December 25, 1936 in Norrköping. She became a philosophy candidate in Uppsala in 1960, was employed by Sveriges Radio 1960-1968, at the co-operation committee for Swedish folk music 1968-1970, as archivist and responsible for the recording activities and the gramophone series Folkmusik i Sverige at the Swedish Song Archive 1970-1995 and as archivist there 1996-2001. She has held board positions in the Swedish Music Collections and the Swedish Audio and Video Archive. She defended her dissertation in 1992 at the University of Gothenburg on the dissertation Återklang - Swedish folk music in change 1950-1980. Märta Ramsten is a member of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Gustav Adolf Academy of Swedish Folk Culture.
