Drummer James Crossley, and guitarist / singer Chris Corney met in Peterborough (UK) in 1999, when Chris joined Powerpop / new wave band The Contrast (2). After a year they formed a new band – The Ravines, to cater for Chris Corney´s ever-growing catalogue of songs. While recording The Contrast's debut album in Peterborough, they met producer & bassist Andy Hawkins, who they would go on to work with recording the debut Ravines album ‘Manifesto Of A Broken Heart’ in 2005. The album was released in 2006 and won the hearts of the American power-pop scene, to whom it is still considered somewhat of a 'cult classic' album. The Ravines played numerous shows and festivals until 2007 when they took a hiatus. During this time Chris released three critically acclaimed solo albums and played a host of shows to promote them. Chris Corney was also asked to play bass in UK rock band The Quireboys for the following year. In 2015, The Ravines released their second album ´Everything´s fine´. In The Ravines´ and Chris Corney´s powerpop you can hear echoes from bands like Fleetwood Mac, Teenage Fanclub. Lemonheads, Posies and perhaps most obviously, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
