Austrian chorus master and composer, born 19 September 1902 in Wien, died 20 October 1978 in Wien. Burkhart studied musical sciences at Vienna University and choir conducting with Ferdinand Grossmann. First he taught at Wiener Volkskonservatorium, then at Vienna conservatory, since 1945 he was director of the children's singing school Vienna. 1951 he was awarded the title professor. His work as composer is in close relation to his musical life task, choral singing and youth choirs. He was mainly devoted to tonal music, which was motivated by his engagement in these fields.
