Ralph Page

American square and contra dance caller, songwriter, dance teacher, author, and musician. He was nicknamed "The Singing Caller". Born January 28, 1903 in Munsonville, New Hampshire Died February 21, 1985 in Keene, New Hampshire. Ralph Page’s career as a dance caller began accidentally, filling in for the caller who developed laryngitis. Though the first night was a “disaster”, he kept at it for the next 54 years, becoming "one of the leading callers of his time and an important figure in the history of traditional dance in America". He had numerous albums and published 2 books on dances in America. His legacy continues with a yearly celebration of dance called the Ralph Page Legacy Weekend, in 2021 in its 33rd year.
